The Arnhem-Nijmegen region has a broad economy, with companies operating in a wide range of fields, including automotive and chemicals. Current major international well-known  institutes and companies like Radboud UMC, Radboud University, HAN University of Applied Science, Wageningen University,  Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, Cito,  AkzoNobel, ARCADIS, BASF, Cumae, Firestone Industrial Products Europe, HyGear, DEKRA, DNV KEMA, Teijin Aramid, TenneT, Novartis, NedStack, Hyet Solar, NXP Semiconductors, Synthon and Heinz.

Besides strengthening its broad economic profile, the region is focusing on six important clusters. Between the clusters, there are a lot of crossovers:
